Camping on Croatian islands is a unique experience

Croatia is a holiday destination that has a lot to offer to its guests, and camping enthusiasts will certainly get good value for their money here. Wonderful pitches are found not only in continental Croatia and along the coast, but also on Croatian islands offering beautiful camping areas with special features. How about a carefree holiday on island Krk, one of Croatia's largest islands, or by one of the beautiful sandy beaches on the island of Rab? Great campsites are also located in the Kvarner region, on the islands of Cres and Lošinj.

If you’d like to spend your camping holidays in Dalmatia, you’ll find attractive campsites on Pag, Čiovo, Ugljan and Pašman, featuring beautiful green landscapes. Should you prefer highly popular islands, choose Korčula, Brač and Hvar. Holidaymakers will enjoy the marvellous sandy beaches stretching along the campsites on the islands of Murter and Dugi Otok, while Mljet and Lastovo boast parts turned into a national park and a nature park respectively, perfect for lovers of untouched and protected nature.

Your perfect relaxing getaway – Camping on islands

It goes without saying: campsites on Croatian islands offer high-quality amenities, such as modern sanitary facilities and comprehensive service. They are a true oasis of peace where you can escape from everyday stress. Unspoiled nature and a variety of excursion options are sure to make you feel relaxed in no time.

Accessibility is the icing on the cake

Some might immediately associate camping holidays on an island with a strenuous journey. Waiting in queues for an often expensive and crowded ferry might put you off at first. However, a number of Croatian islands, such as Krk, Pag, Vir, Čiovo and Murter, are easily reached just by crossing a bridge. Some islands, like Pašman and Ugljan, Cres and Lošinj, Lastovo and Prežba, are connected to one another by bridges.

However, if you do need a ferry to reach your holiday destination, you will run into additional costs. These may vary depending on the distance, vehicle class and number of passengers. For example, a family of four traveling with a camper or trailer will pay between 150 and 190 euros to get from Split to the island of Hvar, and between 47 and 55 euros to get from Zadar to the island of Ugljan.

Shorten the wait – Book online

A long queue in front of the ticket office can surely dampen your holiday mood, especially under the blazing summer sun. If this is something you’d rather avoid, bear in mind that some ferry operators allow you to book your tickets in advance (Ferry boat companies: Jadrolinija, Rapska plovidba and similar). This means you can calculate your costs before your journey, check the exact departure time and optimize your travel plans. Once you arrive at the port, you will be just one ferry ride away from your holiday fun.
