Josipa Cvelić Bonifačić enters ADAC's prestigious Hall of Fame
The German Automobile Club, ADAC, which is the most influential promoter of camping tourism in the German-speaking countries, as well as the publisher of the renowned ADAC camping guide, held its annual award ceremony for European campsites and the most meritorious individuals. For the first time in history, the award ceremony has been broadcasted live from the Stuttgart Congress Hall. Croatia is especially proud that the recognition for lifetime achievement went to Josipa Cvelić Bonifačić, PhD, for her exceptional contribution to the development of camping tourism.
Members of the Croatian Camping Association (CCA) have an additional reason to celebrate, since Josipa Cvelić Bonifačić was in the past the president of the national camping association and, through this role, she has contributed significantly to the development of the Croatian camping sector. She still shares her expertise through the activities of the Section for Vocational Education at CCA, of which she is the president.
As Uwe Frers, Executive Director of ADAC Camping (Pincamp), noted during the award ceremony, the award is a kind of Oscar in the camping industry, which pays tribute to innovators and leaders of European camping, and Ms. Cvelić Bonifačić is only the third person to enter ADAC’s Hall of Fame, since its inception.
The highlight of the ceremony was the awarding of the Lifetime Achievement Award to the Croatian representative, Josipa Cvelić Bonifačić, in the "Hall of Fame" category. Through a video message, Josipa expressed her gratitude for the unexpected and exceptional honour, while the ADAC further highlighted her accomplishments:
"Ms. Cvelić Bonifačić has left a big mark in the Croatian and European camping industry. Working for the Valamar Group, she gave the key contribution to the process of increasing the quality of Croatian campsites, as well as to the conversion of campsites into top resorts. With the development and implementation of the first European curriculum in the field of sustainable management "Master of Sustainable Campground Management" and by ensuring its funding by the Erasmus program of the European Union, she contributed hugely to the education of future camping operators. Last but not least, Josipa is industry’s leader in terms of sustainability, and she has made a great contribution to the camping sector in general under the auspices of the Croatian Camping Association."
In addition to the above-mentioned recognition, another Croatian representative has been nominated in the ADAC Camping Booking Awards category - Aminess Atea Camping Resort from the island of Krk.
