One of the better known children’s and youth campsites, camp Veli Jože is located near Savudrija, the oldest port on the Adriatic. The campsite participates in European Union programmes for young people aged between 14 and 18 years old, and it enjoys a particularly favourable climate.
With an 1,800 metre long beach, Veli Jože provides a variety of sports grounds, including two for handball, nine for basketball, two for volleyball, four for street-ball and one for miniature golf. It also has a multi-purpose stadium for basketball, volleyball and five-a-side soccer with seating for 1,200 people.
Accommodating 3,000 visitors, the camp has 866 beds in wood houses and 350 camping units reserved for guests with their own tents and camping trailers. A grocery store is available on-site, with food served on a terrace overlooking the bay of Trieste.
Guests can leave their camping gear at the camp during the winter from January to the beginning of April during which time the camp is closed.
