What to do and see on Cres Island?
The island of Cres offers a tapestry of experiences woven from natural beauty, tradition, and captivating biodiversity. Begin your adventure with a hike through its fragrant forests, then descend to breathtaking beaches like the one in Lubenice, ranked among the world’s 40 most beautiful beaches by Bild magazine. The easiest way to get there is by organized boat trips from the nearby town of Martinšćica.
Take a stroll through Osor, the town of sculptures, where a bridge connects Cres and Lošinj, and don’t miss the charming village of Lubenice, perched on a steep cliff. In Beli, you’ll fall in love with both the quaint stone-paved old town and the magnificent griffon vultures. Learn about their coexistence with the local community at the Griffon Vulture Rescue Centre. For the more adventurous, there’s a zipline soaring 35 metres above a stunning pebble beach.
To complete your visit, savor local specialties in one of the traditional konobas in the town of Cres, such as fish stews (buzara) or dishes prepared under the peka, a traditional bell-shaped lid used for slow cooking.
